Foster Care Support

This program started in 1997 and at the time was one of the most courageous initiatives in the field of deinstitutionalization and caring for abandoned children in Romania. At the time the notion of taking abandoned children with HIV or AIDS or those with disabilities out of the hospital and placing them in dedicated families from the community was nearly completely unprecedented.

Results:
Through one of our projects, 17 children with HIV/AIDS and 52 children with severe disabilities benefited from inclusion in family-style homes or foster families.
Most of them have been integrated in schools, have been raised in the community, and now some of them already have jobs and families of their own.

What we provide currently:
One social apartment (a home) at no rent, for 4 young people who have been part of the organization for over 10 years; we are preparing them to lead an independent life.
► Socialization activities
► Counseling for finding a workplace and being prepared for life.
